Our client is a highly successful boutique fund management business, with a small, high calibre investment team.

The Investment Analyst will plays a key role in supporting the internal investment and portfolio management functions. This is a dynamic, high growth business with an entrepreneurial culture. Employees with the right attributes are given a high level of responsibility and can become an integral part of the business. This role provides an opportunity for significant, hands-on development through its high level of involvement in internal investment processes, as well as the exposure it provides to a variety of best-in-class external investment managers across asset classes. For the right candidate, they will also offer training and development opportunities.

The fund has a supportive and collegiate environment, that encourages team building and working together towards shared business goals. They have a strong office culture with an element of hybrid work (1 day at home a week).

  • Where possible, enhance portfolio management processes by improving either efficiency or effectiveness

Performance Measurement & Analysis

  • Maintain the performance models used for each strategy

  • Conduct strategy-level attribution analysis of the multi-strategy portfolios
  • Conduct detailed attribution analysis of listed equity portfolios, including attribution by sectors, regions, currencies and individual securities

Manager Due Diligence & Ongoing Assessment

  • Assist with due diligence on prospective investment managers

  • Write market and portfolio commentary when required
  • Contribute to sales and marketing materials, such as presentation decks or white papers
  • Conduct specific ad hoc analysis for use in client reporting and sales materials as required

Desired attributes

  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in investment management or an equivalent field
  • Demonstrated capabilities in quantitative analysis and data management
  • Proficient with technology and a practical understanding of AI tools and their applications
  • A keen interest in financial markets and investment strategy, particularly across different asset classes
  • Strong communication skills, including an ability to write and speak about markets and investment strategy
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative over tasks and work in a self-directed manner
  • Willingness to learn quickly and adapt to change in a fast-moving environment

This is a business where you will get support, but not have your hand held so there is a need to be able to “work off your own steam”. The role will be technical (rather than hugely client facing) so you need to enjoy modelling and finding insights through analysis. It’s a genuinely fast-moving culture and somewhere where your voice will be heard.

If this role is of potential interest, please contact John Molony (john@bkcon.com.au).
